Kaelen introduces himself

I am delighted to be working at Reckless Video. It is absolutely the perfect job for me because I love movies and live only a block away. I have been frequenting the store for several years and know it well.

For a person to work at Reckless, he or she must know the customer and what kind of movies they like. However, I also think it is important for customers to know the person they are taking recommendations from. Therefore, I think it sensible to introduce myself as a new employee.

My interests explore drama, comedy, action, and some sci-fi. I enjoy lots of older movies and I have voraciously devoured most of AFI’s top 100 movies. I will explore several movies that may not be on many movie lists, but are some of my favorites.

I have always been interested in politics and government and so THE WEST WING is the one TV show that I love. It is such a smart program that educates at the same time that it entertains. I love all the characters and enjoy the comedy in our government.

SLEUTH is a masterpiece of intrigue and mystery. Michael Caine and Laurence Olivier deliver masterful performances in this ever-surprising story.

COLLATERAL is my favorite Michael Mann film. It has a fascinating story line. I feel like it is something familiar that could be watched over and over. Tom Cruise delivers what is possibly the only performance of his that I like and Jamie Foxx is wonderful as the unfortunate cab driver.

The only new release on the list is V FOR VENDETTA, which I absolutely loved. Of course that could have been because Natalie Portman was in the film, but I doubt it. “Mr. Smith” is wonderful as V and I loved the story and the development of the characters and their personalities.

Even though FOR THE LOVE OF THE GAME is a chic flick, the baseball aspect makes that ok. I have played baseball for longer that I can remember and part of me, even though I have obviously never played professional baseball, identifies with Kevin Costner’s character.

ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN is an important film about our development as a country. I have always been interested in Watergate as a historical event and the influence it had over later presidents. I enjoyed learning about history prior to 1972 and the course it took in preparing the office of the President for the power it took to create Watergate.

HERO may have the most beautiful and stunning cinematography I have ever seen in a movie. Just that aspect alone makes Hero a must watch movie but the swordplay and action is fantastic as well.
