There's a lot to like in Australian movies, and to celebrate the Oscar Nominated Animal Kingdom and the campy 80's adventure BMX Bandits new to the store, we've gathered all of our Australian films together for April's Spotlight Section.
Australian movies feature many pre-Hollywood performances from Nicole Kidman, High Jackman, Toni Collette, Hugo Weaving, Cate Blanchett, Guy Pearce, Russell Crowe, Heath Ledger, Geoffrey Rush, and (of course) Mel... these movies range from affable comedies like The Castle to Peter Wier's classic Picnic at Hanging Rock, and including the grindhouse cult films documented in Not Quite Hollywood (including Stone, Mad Max, and The Cars That Ate Paris).
For good measure, we've included the movies that take place down under, too-- though Mission Impossible 2 and First Strike aren't Australian productions, they still take place in Australia.
Reckless Video's Spotlight On...
It's an ever changing cinematic world out there, and Reckless Video's Spotlight section puts special attention on the movies that reflect what's happening right now. From a trend that's being popularized by a new, big budget release to a star that's grabbing headlines to movies that simply focus on a particular time of year, Reckless will single these films together for the easy access of something that needs a spotlight shone.
