Television

DVDs of television series' make up this weeks largest releases, the biggest of the group being season 4.5 of Battlestar Galactica. Concluding the series, this final entry puts the lid on all of Battlestar's mysteries, and brings the wildly successful science fiction series to a close.

We also have a standalone feature from the Doctor Who series, Planet of the Dead, setting the Doctor up with a new companion and stranding him far away from an Earth in desperate need of rescue. Similarly, Children of the Earth is a standalone Torchwood episode, setting the group adrift and unable to go back to headquarters as the world faces a threat even Torchwood may not be able to face.

The complete series of ABC Family's The Middleman, about an artist who is conscripted to work for a secret organization that fights against evil forces. Over the course of the series, the characters fix "exotic problems" as the focuses on pop culture references, geek humor, and superspy hijinks.

Pushing Daisies has just released its second and final season, finishing the "forensic fairy tale" and the quirky tale of the man who can bring people back from the dead with a single touch.

The first season of Dollhouse unfolds slowly, sketching the details of an organization that wipes people's memories and makes them whatever a client wishes: councilor, escort, negotiator... anything the situation requires. When one of the "Dolls" gradually begins to form her own identity, she's suddenly a key player between the Dollhouse, an FBI agent trying to stop human trafficking, a rogue Doll obsessed with her, and a seemingly omnipotent corporation.

A general practitioner with a fear of blood, Doc Martin is the title character in a BBC comedy-drama, a former surgeon with a gruff bedside manner and no gift for working with people, who finds himself reluctantly engaging with his community.

Opening with test pilot Hal Jordan, the animated Green Lantern: First Flight follows the ordinary man through his birth as the Green Lantern, and his great role as a superhero in a larger world than he imagined.

Action (over the top)

The third sequel to The Fast and the Furious is simply called Fast and Furious, and reunites the series-founders' stars Vin Diesel (Babylon A.D, The Chronicles of Riddick) and Paul Walker (Into the Blue, The Skulls). Taking place after the first movie but before the second, Diesel's Dominic Toretto gets a call from his sister (Jordana Brewster: Annapolis, The Faculty) that a member of their crew (Michelle Rodriguez: Battle in Seattle, Blue Crush) has died in a crash, while Walker's Agent O'Conner is tracking a drug dealer... but the two men's paths are destined to cross once again, and their obsessions push them in the same direction. On DVD and Blu Ray. Now with Rifftrax!

Derived from the Dragonball Z comics, cartoons, and video games, Dragonball: Evolution pits an ancient warlord intent on destroying the world (James Marsters: P.S. I Love You, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) against Goku (Justin Chatwin: War of the Worlds, Taking Lives), an 18 year-old high school student and martial artist. Along with his sweetheart (Jamie Chung: Princess Protection Program, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry), Goku's now part of an epic battle, and the two of them have to seek out an ancient master (Chow Yun Fat: Children of the Huang Shi, Anna and the King) and save the world.

In the chaos of post-Katrina New Orleans, Streets of Blood stars Val Kilmer (Felon, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) and 50 Cent (Righteous Kill, Home of the Brave) as partners on the police force, navigating the unpredictable forces of greed and corruption that have overtaken their city. With Sharon Stone (Alpha Dog, Sphere) and Michael Biehn (Havoc, The Terminator).
