Three Generations
Georgia Rule is the story of three generations of women, Jane Fonda (Monster-In-Law, Klute), Felicity Huffman (TransAmerica, Magnolia), and Lindsay Lohan (Mean Girls, Just My Luck) and the bonds of family and motherhood as they spend the summer with Georgia (Fonda). Cillian Murphy (28 Days Later, Breakfast on Pluto) plays a young doctor who joins the Irish freedom fighters, and eventually find himself pitted against his brother in The Wind That Shakes the Barley. Jeff Daniels (The Lookout, Pleasantville) stars in I Witness as a human rights activist trying to uncover the facts behind mysterious deaths in Tijuana, and Jay Baruchel (Almost Famous, Million Dollar Baby) and Alexis Bledel (The Gilmore Girls, Tuck Everlasting) lead an ensemble cast in the romantic comedy I'm Reed Fish. A collection of short films, Stories of Lost Souls offers vignettes staring Cate Blanchett (The Good German, Elizabeth), James Gandolfini (The Sopranos, The Man Who Wasn't There), Hugh Jackman (X-Men, The Prestige), and Kiera Knightley (Pirates of the Caribbean, Bend It Like Beckham). Delta Farce is the newest Larry the Cable Guy picture, Disney offers the new princess fantasy Enchanted Tales: Follow Your Dreams, and Dimetri Martin has released a stand-up comedy disc: Person.
New TV releases this week include season 3 of The Office, the unique and off-kilter science fiction Lexx, the TV comedy about a TV comedy 30 Rock, the 4th season of Nip/Tuck, season 3 of Desperate Housewives, the complete Black Donnellys, the 2nd season of Prison Break, and the mini-series To Serve Them All My Days.
