Best Foreign Film Oscar

The winner of the Oscar for Best Foreign Film this year, The Lives of Others, is new this week, the story of the East German systems of surveillance before the Berlin Wall fell, and the operatives who worked for the government, but didn't always side with the communist party line. Perfect Stranger is the new thriller with Bruce Willis (Die Hard, The Sixth Sense) Halle Berry (Monster's Ball, Gothika), weaving together adulterous affairs and murder as secrets are slowly uncovered.

Parker Posey (Fay Grim, Party Girl) stars in Broken English as Nora Wilder, who is failing in her quest for love until she befriends a vibrant Frenchman who shows her how to embrace her life. The Ex stars Jason Bateman (Arrested Development) scheming to reconnect with his ex... who is married to Zach Braff (Garden State, The Last Kiss), a slacker who can't seem to keep a job. Based on a best-selling novel, The Ultimate Gift relates to the twelve challenges, or "gifts," a pampered young man must achieve in order to win his inheritance.

Older films new this week are in our new to Reckless section, with old cult classics and new Criterion Collection releases.
