Farva beans and a nice chianti
The holiday weekend has brought us a fairly small release week, with only four features arriving on the new release wall. The latest installment in the Silence of the Lambs series is Hannibal Rising, the origin story of a young Hannibal Lecter (played by Gaspard Ulliel, Paris, je t'aime). Paul Giamatti (Lady in the Water, The Illusionist) tries to evolve beyond a midlife rut in The Hawk Is Dying. Natalie Portman (Closer, V for Vendetta) stars in Free Zone, where an American student joins a Palestinian woman and an Israeli woman in a road trip to pursue a risky business transaction. Resistance is the story of a downed American pilot (Bill Paxton: Aliens, Frailty) in Belgium during World War II.
One Punk Under God is one of our new documentary features, an episodic documentary about the punk rock son of evangelists Jim and Tammy Faye Baker. Wide Awake is a tale of insomnia as it affects artists, woven together in a pastiche from hundreds of film clips, and Journey Along the Silk Road is a documentary about traveling from western China to Turkey, through which a continuous train route was never completed.
New to the TV shelves are the fourth season of Monarch of the Glen, as well as the second season of The Closer, starring Kyra Sedgwick.(Secondhand Lions, The Woodsman), and Babylon 5 is now complete through season five. The additions to the anime section include volume two of Fullmetal Alchemist, and the Samuel L. Jackson voiced Afro Samurai.
